House of Blues Mandalay Bay:
One Reason This Resort Rocks

View from the House of Blues Mandalay Bay

A Crazy Quilt. Mississippi mud. Great music. You'll find all at House of Blues Mandalay Bay – it's tradition, after all. What do we mean by that?

Well, the Mandalay Bay House of Blues is very fond of it's roots. So it, like all other HoB (House of Blues) locations across the country displays original folk art (over 300 pieces at the Las Vegas HoB), one of which is a Crazy Quilt. Most of these quilts are antique works of textile art, stitched together by women in the deep south.

The mud is not some leftover goo from one of The Strip's luxury spas – it's real dirt from the Mississippi Delta and it's kept in a metal box under the stage. It may sound like voodoo, but it's really just tradition.

In Tune with the House of Blues Mandalay Bay

Next, there's the music. The House of Blues has a habit of booking good bands, and you can expect the Las Vegas location to follow suit seven nights a week. You'll get rock, reggae, rap, rockabilly, jazz and the blues. Here's the general schedule:

Blues Mondays, 8 p.m.
Alternative Tuesdays, 8 p.m.
Nothing But the Blues Wednesdays, 8 p.m.
Acoustic Strip (original music) Thursdays, 8 p.m.
Live Blues Music Fridays & Saturdays, 9 p.m.
Motown and Rhythm and Blues Sundays, 6 p.m.
Steel Panther (metal band), Saturdays, 11:30 p.m.
Purple Reign (Prince Tribute Show) Sundays, 9 p.m.

Mandalay Bay House of Blues Munchies

The first thing you should know about the HoB Las Vegas is that they have a happy hour every day from 3 – 6 p.m. That means $2 domestic beers, $3 imports, $4 cocktails/wine and ½ price appetizers. But if the appetizers aren't going to hold you over, wander into the restaurant for a full meal of southern and cajun-creole specialties. BBQ, anyone? You'll be licking your fingers while you two-step in your chair.

And don't forget about Gospel Brunch in the restaurant courtyard. This runs every Sunday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., and features an all-you-can-eat Southern Style buffet with live gospel music. Treat yourself to a dish of creamy cheese grits and jambalaya, or fresh baked pastry and hand-carved meats. Whether you lean towards hot waffles or cool key lime pie, you're bound to find something here to eat.

Whether you're looking for entertainment, food, or a cool beverage, the House of Blues Mandalay Bay aims to please.
