Sure, it's bird-themed and pink, but there are many good reasons to make a flap about this resort property. Old School Flamingo HotelFor one thing, it was built by some infamous mobsters – Bugsy Siegel and Meyer Lansky to name two – in 1946, and is the oldest resort still operating on The Strip. (You'll find a bronze plaque tribute to Siegel by the Flamingo's wedding chapel, of all places.) If you're a history buff or just fascinated by old Vegas or even the Mob, you'll have to make this resort a must visit destination.The Flamingo Straddles The StripFor another, you might be interested in the rather centralized location – practically right in the middle of The Strip at Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard, and a key stop on the Vegas monorail track too. With easy monorail access you'll bypass most of the traffic on The Strip with ease. Getting downtown to see the Fremont Street Experience, or to sample the many shows and restaurants peppering The Strip just got a little easier with a monorail day pass. Flamingo FoodIf you want a quieter evening, try wastin' away at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, where you'll find fresh fish and your own Cheeseburger in Paradise served up to suit, along with five bars and nightly entertainment.
